Warriors 2019-20 Schedule Released Local news, Weather, Sports, Free Classifieds and Job Listings

In response to mounting concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic by public health officials, the season was suspended by the league officials following the games of March 11 after it was reported that then Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19. This came after the Warriors announced that their game against the Brooklyn Nets the next day would be played behind closed doors. On June 4, 2020, it was announced by the NBA Board of Governors approved a plan that would restart the season with 22 teams returning to play in the NBA Bubble on July 31, 2020, which was approved by the National Basketball Players Association the next day. The Warriors, with the league's worst record at the time of the season's suspension, were not among them, effectively ending the team's season. The Warriors will once again play eighteen regular season games, with nine road games and nine home games being played at Rogers Arena. In the event that a Warriors home game is sold out, tickets may still be purchased through the Warriors official resale marketplace at warriors.com, where season ticket holders and other fans resell tickets that are 100% guaranteed by the Warriors organization.

In partnership with Chase Center Founding Partner, Ticketmaster, the Warriors ticket marketplace offers a safe and convenient way for fans to access all levels of tickets throughout the regular season and playoffs. The Warriors will play nine games over that stretch — which includes a five-game Southeast road trip — against some of the worst teams in the league. “We are looking forward to getting back to Rogers Arena to play before our great fans,” comments Warriors General Manager Dan Richardson. “Our players feed off the great energy in our building and we look forward to playing exciting, hard hitting lacrosse that we know will be appreciated by everyone who comes to our games. Despite lofty expectations, the Warriors got off to a 4–16 start, their worst since the 2000 season. All-Star SG Klay Thompson missed the entire regular season with an ACL tear he suffered during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.

And while the games aren’t all that interesting — New Orleans, Minnesota, Phoenix, and Dallas are on the docket — the Holiday Homestand is all the more reason to tell your in-laws that you just can’t leave town this year. In their final 27 games (post-All Star) the Warriors will have 12 nationally televised games and matchups with arguably the five strongest title contenders — the Clippers, Lakers, Rockets, 76ers, and Bucks. This season saw the departures of Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala, and thus the break up of the Hamptons Five. After considering signing with teams such as the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers, Durant left in a sign-and-trade with the Brooklyn Nets, with the Golden State Warriors acquiring All-Star guard D'Angelo Russell as part of the deal. Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies after six seasons with the Warriors, in which he won three championships and a Finals MVP. Russell would then be traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for former #1 pick Andrew Wiggins at the trade deadline in February 2020. Warriors fans won’t wait long to see Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the reshaped Los Angeles Clippers — but they’ll wait quite a while to see LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the new-look Los Angeles Lakers in the regular season.

Well, the Warriors will be home for the holidays this year. Immediately after the All-Star break, the Warriors will have a four-game homestand (that’s nice) against playoff contenders Houston, Zion Williamson’s Pelicans, Sacramento, and the Lakers (that’s not so nice). Four days after that second meeting with the Nets, the Warriors will be in Toronto, where they’ll stare into the Scotiabank Arena rafters and see the NBA championship banner that could’ve been theirs, not the Raptors’, last June. Of course, the Raptors they’ll play that day won’t be the same, with NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard in LA.

Something to keep an eye on, especially if you’re a connoisseur of video montages. The second match-up against the Rockets of the season, but we’ll allow some time for Houston to figure out that the early-season issues with Russell Westbrook and James Harden are, in fact, full-season issues. And looking at the Warriors’ schedule, that might be necessary.

This might be the year that the Kings make the playoffs. The Warriors are now, like so many other teams, fighting for a playoff spot and seeding. This regular-season finale could mean so much for both teams — and that might provide some the juice for a NorCal rivalry that’s seemingly alluded these teams for decades. The Warriors will have two home games before and after the Houston contest — the five-game home-stand from Dec. 20 to 28 is the team’s longest of the season.

(Nhat V. Meyer/Bay Area News Group) (Nhat V. Meyer/Bay Area News Group)We don’t know when Klay Thompson, who tore his ACL in Game 6 of last season’s NBA Finals, will be back for the Warriors. Thompson’s pain tolerance and injury recoveries are legendary, though, so it’s not asinine to think that he could be back on the court after the All-Star Game in Chicago on Feb. 16.
